Navigating mico-personal finance as a 30 something dad, trying to do better.
As a father of 3 children in a blended family, one thing I have had to come to grip with is managing my personal finance significantly better. All of a sudden, a quick meal at my local Spur or McDonald's as a bachelor, has become a life and death decision between fuel budgets, adhoc school project requests, birthday presents for other peoples children, new baby gifts and balancing healthy diets or medical co-payments.

In my view, I had an extremely privileged upbringing with relatively no major family drama and strong healthy family dynamics. We recently celebrated my fathers 70th birthday during the December holidays, which has provided an opportunity for me to reflect on how lucky we are as a family and how much I fall short as a provider, compared to a man who continues to leave footsteps in the sand for me to follow.
This blog will detail micro decisions I make in trying to decide how to spend money wisely on a modest salary, as I start a new career in a new industry at a junior level, with the help of my wife, family and Granddad (Boondocks) spirit animal, as I wake up in cold sweats on why someone would leave the bathroom light on at 2am in the morning (because teenagers care about electricity bills or letting the good air out the fridge).
